Desert pea after rain by

The stunning Sturt’s Desert Pea flowering in Melbourne – in a large container. It had just finished raining so you can see drops on flower.

is desert pea still state flower in australia….it was when i was down there…..this is a beautiful capture…vivid…

  • Yep it’s the floral emblem of the State of South Australia. Grows after rain dryer inland areas. It can be grown as a summer annual in cooler parts of Australia – from seed – which you soak overnight before planting.

Beautifully captured, these are a lovely plant!

  • Thanks gypsygirl – the shocking red contrasted with the dark centres is brilliant isn’t it. Each flower is about 4-5 inches high – the plant runs along the ground.
    Cheers
    Chris
