Flame Pea
The Heart-Leaved Flame Pea (Chorizema cordatum) lives up to it’s name. This one grows on my “nature strip” out the front of my house. It’s a metre high and two metres wide and you can’t see the leaves in Spring as it’s covered with these astonishing flowers.
Yes this is the true colour – it’s from Western Australia but grows well in Melbourne gardens in a hot sunny spot!

Thanks Lorraine – it should go well out at Hoppers. Let me know if you have any questions. I’m in the Keilor Plains group of the Australian Plant Society which meets at Airport West and includes people from your area. Love your flower photos too!
