Rue St. Vincent is a street in Paris in the Montmarte district, and upon that street is a little club called Au Lapin Agile. This club, back in the 1910’s, was hugely popular with artists and intellectuals. Famous painters, poets, and writers would frequent this club, and Au Lapin Agile is still one of the most popular nightspots in all of Paris to this day. I picked the street and the club because I picture this boy standing outside, leaning up against a brick wall, smoking his cigarette beneath a flickering street lamp and watching people walk down the lane. And of course, as he watches, the girls that just passed him by crane their necks to get another look before they turn the corner. A shining example of a momentary glimpse that lasts ages.
