Quod Me Nutrit, Me Destruit

Centuries ago, a man fell in love with his slave girl, the most beautiful woman he laid his eyes on. They were in love with another… he married her, but was very jealous, so he destroyed her lover and branded her with a hot iron rod the words, “quod me nutrit me destruit”, as a reminder that she will always belong to him in body…. Her soul would remain her lovers….

Hi all, we are running a campaigne against women abuse, if you would like to forward the email with my image on please BM your email address…..

Linkin Park
Crawling

Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real

There’s something inside me
That pulls beneath the surface
Consuming, confusing
This lack of self control I fear
Is never ending, controlling

I can’t seem to find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence)
(I’m convinced that there’s)
(Just too much pressure to take)
I’ve felt this way before so insecure

Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real

Discomfort, endlessly has pulled
Itself upon me distracting, reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It’s haunting how I can’t seem

To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence)
(I’m convinced that there’s)
(Just too much pressure to take)
I’ve felt this way before so insecure

Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real

Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing, confusing what is real

There’s something inside me
That pulls beneath the surface
Consuming
(Confusing what is real)
This lack of self control I fear
Is never ending, controlling
(Confusing what is real)

    Hi Cindy,

What a powerful and disturbing work you have produced. This is the second time I’m viewing it as I had to close the image the first time it affected me so – I think (and this is the first time I have ever admitted this to anyone) because I was the victim of a battered husband syndrome.

Your words in the poem also resonate strongly within me…

If this doesn’t arouse an emotive reaction from the viewer, he or she is soul dead.

Congrats and I wish you the greatest success with your campaign…

    Regards,

    Mike

  • Cindy Olivier replied

Bravo Mike, Spousal abuse is a two way street and many men are too afraid of losing face if they admit to it, I hope that “Was” means it is over for you

Cindy this is wonderful and disturbing work, and I too wish you all the best with your campaign
