I was wondering if any of you lovely people could give me some advice as the best way to put together a portfolio?
I have been asked by a photographer local to me to bring in my portfolio, but being new to this i don’t really know the best way to present it?
Should i do contact sheets, photos if so what size?
i’m completely lost!!!!!

I’m sure there’s people out there who can give you better advice than I can on this Cindy! I did a portfolio for my photography course last year, so my only suggestion would be to invest in a good folio (perhaps a nice leather one which looks good) in which you can slip your photos. Mine was quite large, but you could probably get away with a smaller one – perhaps A3 size? The format in which we printed ours was specific to the course I was doing, so you could probably print them however you like. Contact sheets sound like a great idea.

Jessops can make you a book with all your pictures that you want in it. There is various sizes and types you can do plus the material of the book as well. You can choose how and were your pictures are laid out and the price is quite reasonable. So i would sujest popping into jessops perhaps and checking it out. I am wanting to do it with my pictures but at the moment i cant as no money. However i have got to know the people at jessops really well and they said the books they can create are really becoming popular and had good feed back from them. It also means your pictures are secure there and you dont have to have them in polly sheets etc. Just a sujestion though. Other wise if you dont like that idea then i would go to an art shop find a folio you like i personally wouldnt go any smaller than A4. Then what ever folio size you want have your pictures printed off to fit. However saying all this you know im no expert but its what i would do if i was in your situation. :o)
Good luck at keep us up to date on how you get on!!!
