The Happy Eccentric by Carmen Cilliers

The Happy Eccentric by

My intention when I did this painting was to take an everyday situation – like looking out for the post-man and turning it into a vibrant and alive moment in time!
No matter how small and trivial things may seem – there is always something else going on: one just has to take a look at that poor fish! I lik this painting, my friends say it makes them feel like “…putting on their dancing shoes!”
(It’s a frustrating fact, but for some reason this painting just won’t upload to the right proportions – it’s living it’s title to the full – and just NOT conforming!)

Please visit my blog for more of my artwork or for inquiries on original paintings if I still have them available.

About Carmen Cilliers

My paintings are an exploration and expression of my personal emotions, interpersonal relationships and recollections of childhood; the human condition; and also influenced by my travel experiences and their influences on my senses as well as inspiration drawn from current fashion and pop culture.

My aim is to represent my world and express, with my chosen media the emotional moments, quirky twists and often humorous encounters of life.

Thank you – it’s better in real life. If I had found this site before then I probably would not have sold the original!

Does the fish look just worried and sad – or does it need more work on the paint side?
I love getting feedback from other artists – thank you guys, it’s soooooo appreciated!

I was just having a blonde moment I think! I tought he was lying on his side ! You know ‘dead’ , but looking at it again… I realise he looks alive and as vibrant as the rest of the painting! Sorry Carmen I think I need glasses!
