Carmen is back and says thank you!
Hi Everyone,
I’m back from a wonderful warm holiday in Bali where I shared a great time with my partner and friends. The people there are just fabulous and we ate some of the most amazing restaurants so I am full of inspiration. (Yes – food inspires me, among other things too of course.)
While I was away I received numerous comments on many of my paintings for which I thank you.
I do apologise that I don’t respond to each comment but I feel my time is better used viewing your work and commenting on that instead.
A year ago I was addicted to Redbubble and wasted much time commenting and replying and the result was that I was not putting the time and effort at the easel – end result being that my work was in my opinion stagnating and as an artist I was not developing at the pace I expect of myself.
Since being back from holiday I have ‘belted’ out a few pieces and completed work that has been lying about unfinished. They will be posted soon.
I hope you are all well and once again would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your support and feedback.
Take care and stay safe!
Carmen.

Hi Amanda – thank you : )
I think the addictive thing about Redbubble (for me) is that it feeds one’s ego. I hope I am not out of line saying this, but most artists have one (an ego) that needs reassurance because we are our worst critics and it is nice when people like our work or say nice things about it. I guess that often the more time we spend on Redbubble commenting often results in us also receiving more comments…fuel for the ego : )
What I had to do was believe in my work more and rely less on the ‘ego boost’ of the lovely and kind bubblers here. Of course it was difficult at first and the result is that now I miss alot of amazing work and receive a lot less comments, but the pay off is that I am also selling a lot more work (originals not RB sales) and have more time to push myself and strive for constant improvement.
Yes – getting the balance right is not easy… but you’ll do it when you decide you need to/have to/want to ; )

Hey Girlfriend – you are pretty elusive yourself these days – or am I just missing your work when I visit? Some new work has been uploaded. Hope you are still being creative! x

I’m with you on this. RB gets me in trouble. I need to budget my time here. I’m really excited to see all this new work you’re posting. Just lovely!

Hi Carmen good to see you back and your art ..even your work looks happier ! worked out that red B is so addictive because who doesnt like positive input on their work and we put our heart and soul on the line .. as a contrast with my internet course we have to put up images up for other students to make critical judgements on and thank good ness most people are kind and encouraging and really a pat on the back is the best feeling in the world …
