Melancholy

Melancholy

Mixed Medium on canvas… approx A3 in size.

Hi everyone, I did this, this afternoon, it took me an hour, exploring with mixed medium. Inspired by Billylee and her print making… so incorporated some printing, water colour, collage and inks… Probably something I should varnish… but if it’s framed behind glass not sure if I’ll risk it. Have no idea what it should be titled so maybe you can help me …

I have been part of RB since mid October and never had a work on the featured pages… could this be it?

Looking forward to your comments and feedback, I know it’s not my usual style, but
hopefully someone out there likes it!

Ozjami – your’e another really reliable supporter… but if I am about to start another using the same mediums then I will be stuck with a title again! I better go start on it hehe and have something to show Steve when he gets home from dinner otherwise he might think I just bailed with no real creative intentions in mind!

First of all this is a great picture Carmen,Very balanced, gourgeous contrasts,it`s even more beautyfull to know you created it this afternoon!
A name? Well she obviously sad or feeling reminishent for something and the writing at the right bottom of the picture says “creativity”.Well….....you know what? A title should only come from you
Carmen! It might not be easy but it`s there.I give titles to pictures after I finish them, I just look at the picture and see what the picture it`s trying to say.Sometimes i also project the picture in what happened in my past and turn the picture in to some framing device of my life experiences.

  • Carmen Cilliers

    Carmen Cilliers

Valid valid points Marco. I haven’t ‘dialogued’ with this painting yet, so I’ll give it a few days and then title it, unless of course someone comes up with a brilliant name. Like you said though, it should come from the artist and I am probably going to knock away every title, but it’s a good way to get inspiration. Thanks for your message and comments, I know the standard of your work so I am very flattered. X C

This is sooooooo goooooooooood….love the way all the colours blend and flow in…

It reminds me of a Queen in a deck of cards…so my title choice would be…Queen of Knaves

    “Sarasate’s Fantasy”.

Spanish violinist and composer, Pablo Sarasate composed a really dynamic arrangement based on themes from the opera Carmen. I’m not a big fan of opera, but Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy does strum my strings.

has anyone managed a title yet… I am still stuck. So far, Picasso’s Dora, Queen of knaves or Cyclops… but what’s a cyclops… is that that thing with half animal half human… and love Picasso’s Dora, but wouldn’t that be taking liberties to think I could even dare use a name like his in my art?

Strange, when I looked at it, first thought that entered my head was ‘teardrops from heaven’. Think there is a song with that title. Don’t know why but there is something sad in the picture.

Carmen: I converse with my painting and ask what it would have of me. Moments shared alone with my oils have led to startling revelations. No matter what the outcome might be for this piece remember to color, brighten and to flourish in all that you do.
