The Happy Eccentric

My intention when I did this painting was to take an everyday situation – like looking out for the post-man and turning it into a vibrant and alive moment in time!
No matter how small and trivial things may seem – there is always something else going on: one just has to take a look at that poor fish! I lik this painting, my friends say it makes them feel like ”...putting on their dancing shoes!”
(It’s a frustrating fact, but for some reason this painting just won’t upload to the right proportions – it’s living it’s title to the full – and just NOT conforming!)

Please visit my blog for more of my artwork or for inquiries on original paintings if I still have them available.

Does the fish look just worried and sad – or does it need more work on the paint side?
I love getting feedback from other artists – thank you guys, it’s soooooo appreciated!

I was just having a blonde moment I think! I tought he was lying on his side ! You know ‘dead’ , but looking at it again… I realise he looks alive and as vibrant as the rest of the painting! Sorry Carmen I think I need glasses!

Really like this, Carmen. Vibrant, playful, sorta naive and strangely resonant of a suburban Gaugin…which of course is a paradox. Hmm… getting myself into deep water trying to pin it down, which like all good art, it resists.

Hope you got full value when you sold the original.

Beautiful Carmen! Do you ever sleep or eat or is it all paint and bubble?

  • Carmen Cilliers

    Carmen Cilliers, 6 months ago

LOL – actually I sleep, eat, drink, work, study and paint and redbubble! My partner calls me a ‘doer’ and funny enough I consider myself quite lazy. I am trying to do a bit of a clean up today before Christmas, so study/studio and you should see it. So not too much RB and no painting today!

I would say, very playful and experimental, which is good. There is an interesting potential in the tension/subject you introduce with the fish and the cat there. One finds the painting interactive and feeds a lot of possibilities for the imagination-Keep Strong!
