Mixed Medium on Canvas. I did this today, well I had to, I forgot that I am supposed to be handing in a painting for an exhibition and am out of exhibition stock. I guess this is not that similar to what I normally do: yes, it’s mixed medium, but somehow it’s not the same… no lady, no cat? I like it, not sure I want to let it go just yet… lets see what happens.

Enjoy, and don’t forget to post me your comments because I love a good read !

He Lu – long time! How are you? Thanks for commenting. See – this is the problem, I have been away and not uploading any new art work and I am losing touch with my friends in far away places (don’t worry, just about as slack with the ones close by too.)

Hi Vickie – Thank you! That reminds me, I haven’t perused your portfolio for a while. I need to go check out what’s new and leave some comments. I noticed you were doing some community art projects for a while – that must have been a great experience. : ) Carmen x

Don’t you dare paint over it….maybe you just needed the Canadians to wake up!! It’s fantastic. I don’t think this painting is missing a cat at all!! lol I think it’s a nice departure for you. It’s a beautiful colour, rich. This is something I would hang on my walls!

  • Cilliers replied

I love Canadians! Full of honesty, vitality and a great love for life and travel!

I haven’t painted over it (yet) actually – don’t think I will. Think I will put an affordable price tag on it $350 and maybe it will sell and escape a new coat of paint lol : )

I am going to try re-photograph it though and see if it comes up a little less dark.

I appreciate your comment – thank you! xcarmen

HI Carmen, I think this one is wonderful… Really lovely how it leads you from defined lines and blocks at the bottom up to foggyness… I think there is more in this painting than you realize and I think it will give the right person a lot of great healing energy. Personally, i love it.

  • Cilliers replied

Hi Everyone, Thank you for your comments. Nirvana, it does have a healing energy now that you point it out, I am just trying to recall which Chakra relates to green, I never choose green so subconsciously something else could be there for me looking for healing.

    -----

Ok, just looked it up (The Book of Chakra Healing – Liz Simpson)... green relates to the fourth/heart Chakra, heart disease (I quit smoking a week ago), blood pressure, cancer (god don’t tell me I quit too late).... Also relates to fears about betrayal, and the age 21 – 28, forgiveness and compassion – that’s it! 21 – 28, difficult years but got even harder between 28 and 32.

Thanks for the pointer, you have helped me shed some new light on this painting. : ) x Carmen

Hey Carmen, the trick is not to worry too much about what might have been wrong. At risk of sounding like quite the hippy… I would like to say that this painting has really beautiful energy and by immersing your ‘self’ in these colors you have already begun the healing journey. It can also be really nice to light a candle below the painting and just meditate on the colors. There is also an absolutely fabulous woman over there that sells energetically charged essential oils for healing in each chakra… Anita at www.goddess.com.au Her oils are the most effective that I have ever come across and I worked in massage and healing for over 10 years!

Carmen my friend!! I only realised now that you slipped off my watch list (you are the 3rd of my favorite atists I had lost through RB gremlins – and who knows how many more!!!) And it must be a while as I have not seen a lot of these works!! All quite magnificent, by the way!

  • Cilliers replied

Is that the Mona Lisa in the background? I love the detail in this piece. The writing in the background is great. You use mix media very well. If I saw this in person I’d probably try to touch it which would probably make you angry. I’ll just look from afar.

  • Cilliers replied

Ha Ha – it wouldn’t make me angry, infact I encourage it! At the exhibition someone came up to me and asked me not to encourage people to touch his painting. I said, “it’s ok, it’s my painting you can touch it”... and he said: No – it is my painting, I just paid for it and I don’t want people touching it.

Lol – Moral of the story, the artist may not mind but you never know what the new owner feels : )

a very elegant and classic piece. You might be uncomfortable with is since it is not as familiar to you as your other work. I love the diversity, creativity and imagination of your work and especially to take a risk when something feels alien. Maybe what feels alien is what you can trust since it different what what you are used to. I put this on my page of photos to feature in the healing journey during this round or next. I hope you don’t paint over it!!
