I love all these works – they are so mystical, and now that I thinkof it, a little reminiscent of Heironymous Bosch in their strangeness.

  • Sarah ORourke

    Sarah ORourke

She’s beautiful Cynthia… & every time i look she reminds me very much of someone, as does the girl in The Fan… is she based on anyone or straight out of your wonderful mind?

  • Cynthia Lund T... replied

    Hello Sarah!

She is no one I know. I love looking at fashion photography and many of my models start by a tear out of a magazine. What is customary is that the face will alter itself as I work. (okay, I could say that’s intentional but I’m not that good! It’s because I can’t directly translate something that it will alter – so I can say I plan it that way. teehehee)

They will end up as composites. Like others, I’ll have a friend sit for a photo for the hair, or a pose – or something else and all these pieces will come together to make a whole face/being. Does that make sense?

A lot of people think I could do portraits but I really cannot. No matter how hard I try, I can’t replicate something exactly – envious of those who can.

Thanks again for all your visits and comments and support – means a lot to me.

    Bestest…
    C.

  • Sarah ORourke

    Sarah ORourke

Makes perfect sense… & you know, why would you want to directly replicate? Especially the way yours turn out! Whilst all different, there is a common look that makes your girls identifiably yours.

This one & the girl with the fan remind me of an Aussie model who’s done really well lately- Catherine McNeill… it’s the eyes mostly i think, & with this one it’s more in the thumbnail than full-size… which does make sense!
I have a habit of seeing things that aren’t there anyway… i’m forever thinking people look like other people, even if it’s only one small feature my mind seems to make these connections!

  • Cynthia Lund T... replied

    Love your insights.
    Thank you dear Sarah…
(and aren’t we all conglomerations of each other when it’s all said and done?)

love the symmetry, contrasting leaf, skin textures which together pull you into the exquisitely
drawn face ….then you look into the staring eyes that quite simply begin to melt you….beautiful image!!
