Mon Ange (Autumn's Child) (assemblage)

Mon Ange (Autumn's Child) (assemblage)

costume pearls, cut out print of drawing, print, wrapped and archival glued – on 1” thick plywood

Last year I participated in a local benefit exhibition where the artists are given 12×12” blank plywood boards and we can embellish them as we desire.

I wrapped a portion of one of my prints of my drawing Autumn’s Child/Mon Ange on the board, cut out another one of it to create the “mask” of her – and added fake pearls to looks as if the drawing was popping out of itself and to tie all the elements together. (I was so lucky to go to my magic drawer and discover this long strand in there that were the exact diameter of the drawing’s. They are costume and come from sewing items that were my Grandmother Alvina’s.)

Here is a shot taken of it laying flat:

Your gallery is superb…. you have a great gift for creating faces and turning them into something both strange , intense, beutifull and dark in some ways…. just amazing….. dam i wish my skill for the written language was better… there is more i want to say but cant find the words….. .... then again your pictures speak more words than is necessary to say out loud…..

  • Cynthia Lund T... replied

Carrie, you have blown me away.
    I’m humbled and very grateful.

Coming from someone who understands and portrays such clean (and complicated) intensity yourself, I’m very honored.

I send my best to you…

Do not know where to start with…. so I started with this gem….
Gifted and emotional, sustaining your child heart at the same level than your womanship… tenderness and fantasy, a world of looks, so profound as any could perceive… watery and mystical, with a pich of passion… slight and shy just to remember that you are passionate but do not need to show it off.
    My admiration…
    Rosa

  • Cynthia Lund T... replied

Rosa! When did you sneak this in? Oh, I’m so sorry I missed it earlier, but I must tell you the timing is particularly poetic this eve.
    T H A N K Y O U.
    wow.
    Your words leave me speechless.
    You are something else.
