Taken on Aug 17 2011 in my backyard Veneta, Oregon with my trusty Canon EOS 50D, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6l IS USM Lens, set at 1/3200sec., F 5.60, ISO 800, Focal length 400mm to capture this shot.
Amazing capture Chuck and this close to a Bald-faced hornet is close enough, I’ve been stung by one of these critters and it really hurts. This interaction between the two hornets is interesting (and a very fortunate capture) do you know what it was about?
Thanks for the Comment, Bryan The hornets were fighting over the best place to be on the hummingbird feeder. I have a whole series of shots of them fighting on the feeder and flying around it. The hummer would not even come in to feed with them on the feeder that’s why I raised the shutter speed so high to get the hornets flying… It worked out great…
Good day! Please add a COUNTRY to your image’s description and then resubmit to MOTHER NATURE’S FINEST GROUP. Sincerely, your host, Stephanie :) GREAT SHOT!!!!!!! : )
