Just a few of the 40,000 “Cackling Geese a Canada Goose Subspecies” that winter in the Fern Ridge wetlands of the Willamette Valley. Was taken in the West Eugene wetland area of Oregon, on March 21, 2010 with a Canon ESO 50D, EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens at 1/800sec, F 4.00, ISO 250, Focal length 75mm.

These smaller subspecies of the Canada goose are from Alaska and spend the winter here feeding before flying back their to breed. Thank you Donna! ~Chuck
