Siuslaw Falls
The Siuslaw Falls are located 9 miles west of the small town of Lorane, Oregon just off of Siuslaw River Rd. about 1mile up Siuslaw falls Rd. There is a nice swimming place above the falls with old pick nick tables and a fire pit for day use only. The lady at the county store in Lorane said, “In the summertime a lot of the local kids go swimming there” when she was giving me directions on how to get there.
In the past 35 year I’ve driven past these falls many times and never knew they were there until gardenerpat on RedBubble told me about them. Matter of fact one of my favorite spots to pick wild Oregon blackberries is not that far down the road from there. It just goes to show you can go your whole darn life and not know what’s right around the corner from you.

Hey Chuck nice shot, very well framed and good DOF. I have seen this on the map but never made a visit.
Chuck Gardner replied
Thank You Joe, If you are going to go to there on a photo shoot wait until we have a few days with out rain so the water will have time to clear up.
Randall Scholten
Very nice image! Oregon has so many hidden treasures!
Chuck Gardner replied
Randall, I went fishing and hunting in that area for years and never knew it was there….lol… Thank you, for the comment.

Good for you Chuck to find such a nice place. You did it justice with this lovely shot and the added story. A very beautiful spot to visit..
Chuck Gardner replied
Thanks Donna, I was going to wait until spring or a better day but I was taking care of my oldest (10 yr.) granddaughter so we went on a pick nick and a photo shoot. So being a cloudy day I decided a waterfall would be the best place to go for pictures. This one is only a half hour away.
Diane Schuster
Boy, this is a beautiful spot, glad you found out about it! Wonderful image! Dee
Chuck Gardner replied
Thank you Dee, When I posted a shot I took near Lorane, gardenerpat told me she use to live there when she was a young girl and about the falls
CraigsMom
What a beautiful shot, Chuck!
Chuck Gardner replied
Thank you, Mary-Ann! I have been waiting for a good day to go there for a while. Yesterday worked out because the weather was right for the shoot and I had my oldest granddaughter go along with me to help.
Pat Yager
Oh, Chuck! How wonderful of you to go and find the falls!!! I’m so thrilled!! I won’t tell you how many years ago it was that I lived there, lol, but they honestly still look exactly the same as they did long ago! Thank you EVER SO MUCH for this gift of the photograph of a very special place! It makes me feel young again! – Pat (P.S. I was away for several days and have many pages to catch up on, or I would have seen it earlier.)
Barbara Applegate
Awesome shot, Congratulations

Chuck Gardner replied
Thank you so much, Barbara: I have been away from RB working on a new computer and almost missed that I was FEATURED in this fine group with this honor. I don’t know if you read why I took this? It was for Pat Yager she lived near there once. Her comment is above yours…
