You will see works from several of the artists from our studio including, Skip, Sunny, Kealie, TeeJ and myself (Linda).
My favorite medium is definitely graphite pencil although, over my child rearing years, I have grown a passion for photography. Initially, I had taken several b/w photography classes in college and liked it reasonably well. It wasn’t until I was in tow with three little ones that I really found a passion for photography. Not only was I able to capture the most beautiful things in my life and freeze them for all time (my babies) but I could also photograph things that grabbed my fancy for a future project. This gave me hope for the future, so to speak. I still work more in photography more than anything, but I really am looking forward to getting a real studio back one day and getting back to work in all mediums! That’s what I dream of!
On an added note… I’m starting to dabble in photo editing. I’ve found that because of my realism in art, I have a real knack for photo restoration and some editing. Although, I’d love to learn more about the real art of digital graphics design and photo manipulation.
Our studio is on a 40 acre estate in the middle Appalachian mountains of Virginia. One can sit from the front porch and see the most wonderful view of Poor Valley. It’s not at all uncommon to see almost all forms of wildlife found in these mountains. Including black bear, bob cats, wild turkey, great blue herons, ground hogs, hawks, etc.

Linda’s personal Interests:My other greatest interests are hiking, reading, vegetable and flower gardening, my fruit and nut orchard, local history, family tree research and Appalachian Mountains. I love gray or rainy days… And the mountains to me are like a big hug all wrapped up in my favorite quilt by the fire on a snowy winter day.

Documenting your art- Crappy scanner & printer

I’m venting here… I have another finished portrait. Again, I can’t help but complain about my scanner. This scanner of mine doesn’t quite show the detail and all the ranges of tone and depth that I work so hard to capture that is present in the original portrait. I have the large oversized drawing scanned and copied at the UPS Store then I bring it home and scan the small…

Photography... It is what it is!

‎"A photographer went to a socialite party in New York. As he entered the front door, the host said, ‘I love your pictures – they’re wonderful; you must have a fantastic camera.’ He said nothing until dinner was finished, then: ‘That was a wonderful dinner; you must have a terrific stove.’" —Sam Haskins

Father time...

There is something about what Father Time can do that can’t be reproduced by the human hand.
