Skittles is a tubby little Schipperke mix who my children swear is part fox! She is a rescue. When we got her she had an embedded collar and had to have stitches all around her neck. She is one of the sweetest and gentlest souls I’ve ever known… Except when she’s chasing rabbits. Which is her only obsession.
Update!!!- She IS a one of the sweetest gentlest souls! She has never growled, let alone bit anyone before… but we found out (after 7 years) that she is fully prepared to defend her family if necessary! We always thought that if we had a home invasion of any sort that she would be the one scampering off to the nearest dark corner to hide and yip incessantly! NOT TRUE! We completely had her all wrong! My niece and her fiancé, (6’ 5") Kyle, came over for a cookout and Skittles was running around looking for rabbits around the yard. (We live on a 43 acre piece of property in the mnts.) She was at the edge of our lawn a good distance away when Kyle picks up my 5yr old son and starts swinging him around and around. My son was thoroughly enjoying himself and starts screaming bloody murder and like a bolt of lightning, Skittles goes right for Kyle! She leaped into the air like a bullet and latched on to the seat of Kyle’s pants! And she didn’t let go. And the sad thing is, you could tell that she was scared to death but she was determined to protect her boy! Everyone at the cookout was doubled over laughing! It was hysterical. WE ADORE YOU, SKITTLES!!!
