She is a rescued Schipperke/ Kelpie mix. She endlessly roams these mountains of SW Virginia in an obsessive search for rabbits. And many of you have expressed an interest in when I’m going to get a sketch out of her… I’m working on one now. Camera Info.- Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi

“He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me… whenever… wherever – in case I need him. And I expect I will – as I always have. He is just my dog.”

WOW those eyes, if they were slightly more red –
you’d almost have to change to title to Devil Dog 2! Bob =-)
Thank you for this wonderful feature, Bob! Up until now, I’ve not noticed how red her eyes are, but now that you mention it…!!!

You’re most welcome Linda! She’s just adorable :D Cuddle her for me would ya’?!
Have a good one, Eva (Sweden) :D
HiLinda, This looks fantastic too… I look at your homepage to find more of your skipperke… This is my Cathy , and I also put a link to a skipperke homepage, hope you enjoy it… Bye Ien.
Ien, Cathy is an absolute beauty!!! She is!!! And the grey she has now just makes her all the more charming! I also checked out the Schipperke link you posted and it’s great. It describes Skittles perfectly. Except about the housebreaking & negative behaviors. Skittles was EASY to housebreak. She does have obsessive barking… or more like an obsessive yip. She is so keen to listen for intruders that every little sound makes her yip. And she can’t stop herself! And even though it’s not loud at all, after a while it can get on one’s nerves. lol She has none of the other negative behaviors described, though. She is a sweetheart and has never even snapped at the kids. I’ve NEVER heard her howl either!!
Have you noticed how incredibly hard it is to wash them. Their coats are near impenetrable !!! Like trying to was a duck! LOL
She wasn’t born tailess but with part of a tail. Thanks, Ien!

Hi Linda, thanks for all you wonderful reactions… Yes Cathy is also a sweethart, it was the dog from my dad, always go fishing with him and when my dad past away, she was the great friend for my Mom, they have each other . My mom is also gone now past away for five years and it is a great honor for me to give Cathy a new home…
Just what you say, she can bark loud and hears everything… Whe learned her also to be quiet. She knows exactly who is part of the family and who not. Cathy loves to swim and yes she also have a little tail…
I put her a link to my Daughters account on RB, she is Doeneke and she also made a photo from Cathy … Thanks for all the lovely info… bye Warm greetings from Ien and a hug for Skittles… bye…
Wonderful capture!! :D
Thank you, Cee. She’s so easy to photograph!
