Winter Wonderland in the Appalachians by

This image is, technically, not a black and white image but was shot in the middle of a snow storm in SW Virginia, deep in the Appalachian Mountains. It was actually taken in the middle of the day during one of the heaviest snow falls, I’ve witnessed. I really wished I had a waterproof camera for that day. I honestly thought it was just too, dark for any photos to turn out. It was coming down so thick that I decided to take one quick shot and get back under the porch. I was thrilled with the result. It’s one of those photos that makes me happy when I look at it.

oh how I miss winter…we don’t have winter..year round warm weather..though that sounds good..you do tire of it

  • I’ve lived all over the country and several places over seas and I still love this place the most. We have four very distinct seasons and it helps to keep down monotony. I lived in Homestead, FL and Phoenix, AZ as a child and thought I’d seen my first snow when I witnessed frost for the first time. LOL Can you imagine my first REAL snow?!!!

One has to be from there to know just how beautiful the winters are.
