We were on the move from the Ross, in the Midlands to Swansea on the East coast. Looking on the map we noticed that the road we were to travel ended at a T junction, and Bicheno was approximately an equal distance north to Swansea’s journey south. Since we had all day, we took the plunge and headed for Bicheno, picking up ice cream made with fresh strawberries along the way…yum! Finding the sign to the Blow-hole we decided to take a look…met up with a local who chatted with us about the strength and danger of sea in this spot. He told us that he had seen huge waves in the area and was at the time, worrying about some people who had allowed their small child near to the blow hole. Here in Western Australia we occasionally hear about tragedies with the King Waves we sometimes get in the southern regions of the state…so you can be sure, we respected the possible danger and kept a fair distance back.
