Taken inside the Height at Geelong in Victoria, Australia. The Heights Heritage House & Garden is a beautiful old property in Newtown, Geelong, dating back to the 1850s. It belonged to three generations of the one Geelong family before being bequeathed to the National Trust of Australia. The house was erected in 1855 for Charles Ibbotson, who was a partner of Frederick Dalgety. The house is unique in that it is the largest (14 rooms) German pre-fabricated timber dwelling in Victoria. During the 1930s the building was extensively altered to reflect modern taste. The extensive garden (also on the National Estate Register), stables, outbuildings and water tower survive intact from the 19th century. The Heights retains a small collection of fine Georgian furniture collected by the last owners, Louis and Marnie Whyte, grandson of Charles Ibbotson. Early 1860s plantings still dominate this beautiful Geelong garden, and the aged oaks, conifers and the 1930s plantings still surround the house today.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought this had to be a Hans shot Christine! Lovely look, you have done well with the HDR effect here, nice rich glow but subtle. This kind of work makes me want to get into HDR.

  • Wow. That’s a great compliment Paul, thanks for that. Once you’ve tried HDR you’ll be hooked.
