Instant Happy by

Pen, Faber Castell markers and permanent marker – 2011

This is one of the drawings I did whilst working at a call centre to try to grasp onto the tiny fragment of sanity and creativity I had left. At the time, I was taking antidepressants which was even more of a creativity killer.

Happy pills, for myself and probably for the majority of people with depression, are are nothing more than a narcotic mask that doesn’t fix problems. I used to get out of bed in euphoria and everything was just so colorful and fucking cheery, thinking WOW! OHMIGAD! Whoa I hate life! (LOLZ) :D

Well anyway, I guess this drawing is about the instant gratification we expect from taking antidreppressants that really only conceal our emotions on the outside when really we are a miserable bunch of sods hating life, wanting love, money or cheesecake. Yet hating ourselves for wanting aforementioned deliciousness… Fuck you cake.
