Wild Ponies of Grayson Highlands by

These feral ponies inhabit one of the most beautiful spots along the Appalachian Trail. Grayson Highlands State Park borders Mount Rodgers National Recreational Area which has the highest topography in Virginia. Much of the park and the recreational area is above 5000 ft. These ponies though feral are inquisitive and not the least bit shy. I have had the pleasure of seeing some of the colts and fillies grow up to be yearlings this year.

About Chris Snyder

Hi, my name is Chris Snyder and I reside in beautiful Western North Carolina, USA. I have been a swim coach since 1990 and have been selling my photography since 2006. My wife and I are avid mountain bikers and also are very involved in animal rescue. We always have a menagerie of some size and makeup. Most of my images are of nature whether wildlife or landscapes. I hope you enjoy.
