At Attention

Here is one of my favorite feral(wild) ponies at Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia. I have a tightly cropped version that I like too but this one really gives you the feeling of the season and shows the mist rising from the fall colors. I call this guy the Rock Star because of his fantastic hair band mane. Shot with my new 7D and the thrifty 50mm at f8.

The mist combined with the autumn colors and the thick flaxen mane and tail on the pony, add an almost mystical feel to this! His or her mane is so silky its as if they have been brushed Lovely! : )

Thanks Sandy. I have seen this guy for over a year on my visits. He definitely has the most spectacular mane. This was one of the shots I was hoping to get when I went up there.

absolutely beautiful…... I love to see horses in the wild being ….well…just horses!!
they are all wild at heart….... but some of them have it “conditioned out of them”.......
