Photography has been an obsession since I was 13 years old and went off to Italy clutching my mother’s 1940s roll film camera. I’ve been fooling with computers since I bought an Amiga 1000 back in 1985. My first chunky pixelized images were digitized into that machine using a black and white CCTV camera. At last, with today’s software and hardware I feel that I can create the images I see in my mind’s eye. Visit my website at www.PixielatedPixels.com

    Amazing capture!! Well done!!

  • Met up with some other photographers at 8 am, got back from Denver late last night and would have preferred to sleep late but this was so worth getting up early for. They have done a great job of these memorials and the feeling you get when looking down into them is quite eerie. Thanks very much for the compliment, very grateful, cheers.

It’s really quite eerie looking at your photograph Chris, it draws me inwards, and even if I didn’t know what it was I would feel a sense of deep melancholy. Masterful work, well done!

  • It was incredibly impressive just standing there, I do hope I did it justice. Thanks very much Chris for this wonderful feedback and the confidence boost.

Oh wow… I thought they only allowed certain people in there for a while and there’s a list you had to get on to be granted an entry… Am I reading wrong newspapers? :)
    Anyway, awesome shot, as always!

  • I went down there thinking we probably wouldn’t get in but if you go to the preview “store” on Vesey Street opposite the north side of Saint Paul’s cemetery across from Ground Zero there is a lady sitting at a desk on the sidewalk giving out tickets. We (the Lensmasters Group on Facebook, a small startup group, we were 5 people) were there at 8:00 am and I don’t know what the situation would be if you went later. They really search like at the airport and there is a NO TRIPODS rule so don’t take one. I had a tiny table top tripod and the guard let me take it in but told me not to take it out of my bag which was frustrating as I really wanted to use my ND filter and a cable release to slow down the water flow. Oh well. Only the website is sold out of tickets! It was a really cool shoot., these memorials are really fantastic. Thanks Lina for another great comment and compliment, cheers.
