The Bridge Over the Moat to the Gate in the Walls of Arundel Castle

The seat of The Dukes of Norfolk and set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens, Arundel Castle has been open to visitors seasonally for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art, furniture, tapestries, stained glass, china and clocks, sculpture and carving, heraldry and armor in stunning room settings. Set high on a hill in West Sussex, this great Castle commands the landscape with magnificent views across the South Downs and the River Arun. Built at the end of the 11th Century it has been the family home of the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors for over 900 years.

I’ve been fooling with computers since I bought an Amiga 1000 back in 1985. My first chunky pixelized images were digitized into that machine using a black and white CCTV camera. At last, with today’s software and hardware I feel that I can create the images I see in my mind’s eye. Visit my website at

Yet another fav. I really love these pics.

  • Hi John, I’m afraid this is the last one for awhile. My Calendar is finished! Time to work on something else. I do love the castles myself, I love visiting them and collecting the images as much as I love working on them. Something very special about these old piles of stones! I know I’ll be back to castle pictures again at some point, I’m sure I haven’t used up all my material yet! Thanks for all interest in these, I’m glad to find a kindred spirit! Cheers.

Wow, perfect timing as I’m back in England on vacation! Was looking at a photo of this gateway yesterday in a local magazine. This is very exciting and a huge honor, thank you very much indeed.
