I was lucky to discover this Bengal Cat out for a walk with it’s human companion in Central Park, NYC. Here it was off investigating a small waterfall.

The Bengal is a hybrid breed of domestic cat. Bengals result from crossing a domestic feline with an Asian Leopard Cat, Prionailurus bengalensis bengalensis. The Bengal cat has a desirable “wild” appearance with large spots, rosettes, and a light/white belly, and a body structure reminiscent of the Asian Leopard Cat. The Bengal possesses a gentle domestic cat temperament, if separated by at least four generations from the original crossing between a domestic feline and an Asian Leopard Cat. The name “Bengal cat” was derived from the taxonomic name of the Asian Leopard Cat (P. b. bengalensis), and not from the more distantly related Bengal tiger.

Photography has been an obsession since I was 13 years old and went off to Italy clutching my mother’s 1940s roll film camera. I’ve been fooling with computers since I bought an Amiga 1000 back in 1985. My first chunky pixelized images were digitized into that machine using a black and white CCTV camera. At last, with today’s software and hardware I feel that I can create the images I see in my mind’s eye. Visit my website at

LOL Looks like its cousin the tiger!!

  • Hi JR, this was a great cat to see out in the park. It had a very large long muscular body for a domestic cat and it’s human was attached by a 30 foot or so long leash so it could explore but not get lost. I would love one but they are very difficult to keep I understand. Thanks for the great comment, cheers
