So I took a long walk up to Park Avenue and 54th Street and grabbed a few shots of the sculptures of famous landmark buildings on display there but when I got them home I wasn’t inspired by them in their original locations at all. So I just let them sit for a couple of days on my hard drive – then the muse took over and this happened!!

Sculptures originally shot with a Canon EOS M with 18 – 55mm lens. All were removed from Park Avenue backgrounds using Topaz Remask III then composited in Photoshop. The whole was overlaid with images of clouds and the birds were added using my own home made brush. Tweaks were also performed on the completed scene using Nik’s Color EFex and onOne’s Perfect Effects. ~~ More How I Did It here

Photography has been an obsession since I was 13 years old and went off to Italy clutching my mother’s 1940s roll film camera. I’ve been fooling with computers since I bought an Amiga 1000 back in 1985. My first chunky pixelized images were digitized into that machine using a black and white CCTV camera. At last, with today’s software and hardware I feel that I can create the images I see in my mind’s eye. Visit my website at www.PixielatedPixels.com

A very awesomely creative work, Chris!! You really done well with this one!!!

  • Several folks had posted snaps of these sculptures on Facebook so I was intrigued and walked uptown to shoot them. Once I had them in the computer I didn’t see anything in my shots that stood out and would be different than the others I had seen so I nearly just left them to sit forever on the hard drives. Then I thought of doing this. Can’t believe I made it work! Thanks so much for the encouraging comment, much obliged my friend, cheers.
