This painting is part of my “Memories of Venice” series inspired by photos that I took during a recent trip to Venice. This canal entrance doorway attracted my attention with its carved head over the doorway… a four-century old guardian. The crumbling brickwork, the intricate ironwork on and above the door, the special Venice light, all of this is typical of the fading beauty that is so unique to Venice.

very pretty Venetian doorway to add to your “Memories of Venice”, what a wonderful idea! This unique city begs to be painted and you are creating a charming series Christiane
Thank you, Patricia. I came back from three weeks in Venice with a fascination for that city, its light and its architecture, especially its doorways. I simply love working on my Venetian series. Christiane
