This photo was taken at Hopeman, Moray shortly after the sun had set.

I was having a disasterous evening having managed to leave things in the car which meant missing most of the sunset while I retrieved those items. When I finally managed to get setup I was presented with what you see here.

This image was shot on Fuji Velvia 50 with a Mamiya RB67 Pro S camera and 60mm lens.

I think you caught the light at just the right time, even if you did miss most of the sunset! Love sky in this, even I’d be tempted to leave it in colour :)

Hopefully this beautiful sunset makes up for your troubles, it would for me.

  • Hi Dave. This image made up for it. There should have been more from this evening but lets just say I had a very bad blonde moment with the next roll of film. Maybe I should have stuck with digital!

Hi Christopher. Really nice image. I’ve been at this location many times and always think that there’s a really narrow window when conditions are at an optimum here. Right tide and light of course. It’s a location that’s really popular and a favourite of Ian Cameron as maybe you know. Welcome to the bubble and looking forward to more of your images

  • Hi Jim

Thanks for pointing out the reply function, I’m still a bit unfamiliar with the site. However, quite how I missed the reply function is beyond me :-)

Hi Jim, thanks for your comments. I’ve walked past this particular location at Hopeman many times – noting it in my head each time I passed it. August was the first time I’ve gone there specifically to get a shot at that spot – I was really lucky that evening.

My in-laws live just outside Forres and as a result I’m quite often down at Hopeman when I’m up visiting. I’m going to be moving in with them for a while in a couple of weeks until we can get a place of our own ….. I suspect that I’ll be visiting Hopeman a bit more often :-)

I think it was one of Ian Cameron’s images that inspired me to go and check out Hopeman.

    Wow this is gorgeous!

  • Thank you Claire, it was probably one of the most gorgeous sunsets I got to photograph this year.
