August 15, 2009: Through the cobbled streets along preserved, restored or reconstructed historic buildings in the heart of Old Sacramento I was heading out north-west towards Eureka and Crescent City, CA.
Located on the banks of the Sacramento River, Old Town Sacramento, which is known for its rich historical contributions to California, began as a trading post, and it experienced explosive growth. Today with dozens of historic Gold Rush-era buildings Old Town Sacramento has been named a National Landmark, and a portion of it is designated as a State Historic Park. Over 5 million people a year are drawn here for its museums, shops and restaurants.
Before I left town that morning I photographed this old Steamer-Building right at the Sacramento riverfront docks and the boardwalk at the Western end of K street accross the railroad tracks to take a bit of the old wild west feeling home with me.
Homage to Old Town Sacramento, CA
