Established in 1909, Point Cabrillo Light is a lighthouse in northern California, United States, between Point Arena and Cape Mendocino, about 1.5 miles from Fort Bragg, CA. In 1991 the light station was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and in 2002, California State Parks purchased the light station.
Northern California has a serious fog problem, so fog horns sound regularly up and down the coast, and lighthouses still operate (that light was on!).
Typically the combination lighthouse and fog signal building, which resembles a small church, is fogged in, thick dense fog, and cold wind chills the bones.
