The size difference may prevented other dogs from becoming friends; however, these two are playful pals. The dogs chase each other around, or the Cane Corso lies on the ground and lets the Beagle pretend to be dominant as the little dog jumps on her and chews her ears. They eat together and, when they sleep, the beagle lies against the big black dog to stay warm. The two dogs apparently draw comfort from each other.

The bond that dogs can establish with other dogs and species is often dramatic and poignant. This is consistent with the idea that, although dogs are happiest when they are in a social situation, the species that they are interacting with is less important than the quality of the interactions.
