California Lighthouses

When the California Gold Rush came into full swing, California became a magnet for tall ships delivering goods and men ready to seek their fortunes in the Hills of Gold. However, the ragged California coastline with its hidden shoals and submerged rocks is dangerous for mariners. Lighthouses, light stations and light towers were built at the most dangerous points. Today the almost-300-year era of manned California lighthouses is over, but many lighthouses are still in use, and over a dozen are open to the public, alive with stories of days gone by.

This lighthouse wall calendar showcases some of California’s traditional lighthouses, beautifully capturing 13 of them from Point Loma to Battery Point. These picturesque and historical light stations enhance the stunning beauty of the Pacific Coast. Those who love lighthouses and those who are homesick for California are sure to appreciate this magnificent lighthouse wall calendar..
