I’m torn when visiting animals at the Melbourne Zoo between a deep sadness that they are not free and the community ‘need’ to experience creatures they are never likely to see in the wild which can be entertaining and educational. If they are bred into captivity I guess that helps as does the knowledge that they are well cared for, but i still feel melancholy for those in for the long haul without parole.
