A few of us RBlers went on a photoshoot to Coalcliff on Sunday morning. I got up at 4:30am. It was awfully early and it was my birthday as well. So after our photoshoot we went for another one.

Jason Ruth knew of an abandoned train tunnel that had graffiti all over it. When we got there one of the guys had some steel wool and lights, so they did some painting with lights whilst we had long exposures on our cameras. With the steel wool they lite it and swirled it around and the sparks flew off. We were like kids in a candy store, it was great fun. So you see I had fireworks for my birthday!!! How great is that.

This is certainly different from my normal photography but it was so much fun.

Location: Coalcliff, NSW, Australia
Camera: Canon 40D EOS
Lens: Sigma 18 – 200mm
Long exposure: 30 secs

Looks great Christina. Sounds like fun. I’m not too keen on getting up early on the weekend.

  • I am not keen on the early mornings but they are such great fun and that makes it worth it.

Well happy belated birthday Christina; getting up at 4:30 am starts to feel a bit painful when you turn 29 doesn’t it (LOL)…… but all worth it isn’t it!!! Great shot. Wish I would could do something like that. Awesome.

  • Thanks Hany …. Especially the turning 29 bit! :))))) You are my very best friend now!!! LOL. It was so much fun and we would probably be there still but we ran out of steel wool and the spinners arm dropped off.

A Happy Birthday spinning light show just for you, Christina!!! Lucky you!!

  • I was spoilt … And I had such fun. We were like kids in a candy store and I am sure we would be there even now if we hadn’t run out of the steel wool.
