Agapanthas in bloom … and a tiny spider has been very busy weaving his web! Photograph taken in my garden at Hepburn, Victoria, last summer with a Canon EOS450D, 55-250 telephoto lens, hand held on full zoom.

I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t create, it’s as natural to me as breathing, especially now that we have the tools to achieve great art with digital photography. It’s so exciting and I feel that my creativity has finally come to fruition with these fantastic digital tools.

And I have just read that you used your own textures! How wonderful! You are so clever to be able to make a texture like this – wish I could – I have tried using my ice photos as textures but this is so much more creative and I love how you have got the rusty effect around the edge. I am sure you would want to keep how you created the texture to yourself but I would be so interested to learn. Don’t worry though about saying!
I love your ice textures Pauline, they’re so creative! But this one was fairly easy really – I found an old painted wooden cupboard door at the local second-hand builders’ supplies. It had been out in the weather for a while, so was already darkened around the edges. I helped it along with some strategic sandpapering, took a photo, played around with the levels and tones and that was it really …
It’s so much fun to make your own textures. Most of mine have been just every day things around the house – a dust covered tabletop, or a dirty window … floor tiles, even towels – anything with a bit of texture really – mixed and layered, sometimes several times. It’s great therapy, I can recommend it :)xox
