*You too, my mother, read my rhymes
For love of unforgotten times,
And you may chance to hear once more
The little feet along the floor.
And it is but a child of air
That lingers in the garden there.

- Robert Louis Stevenson, To My Mother*

This rather special capture of kangaroo with baby joey in pouch was taken near Hepburn Springs, Victoria, Australia, with a Panasonic FZ20, edited in Photoshop CS3. They are very shy creatures so I was lucky to get the shot before she jumped away.

If you like Child of Air, you might also like All in the moonlight pale …

I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t create, it’s as natural to me as breathing, especially now that we have the means to achieve great art with digital photography. It’s so exciting and I feel that my creativity has finally come to fruition with these fantastic digital tools.

touching words .. I see my children..wonderful set of work and words

  • The mother kangaroo was so lovely with her little baby in the pouch, Anna. They keep the babies in their pouches, safe and sound, until they’re 18 months old – so sweet! Thank you for your sweet comments, I’m so glad you felt touched by my work :) xox

Wonderful capture and love the light on her.

  • Thanks so much Karen! I took the photo on our evening walk, the sun was very low in the sky, plus a tweak from photoshop! Did you see the little one in her pouch -it’s looking down, so its little ears are pointing to the ground :))x
