Old growth by Chris Armytage™

Our roots are ancient, gold and gray, a buried treasure
Laying deep and secretive beneath the sunlit world.
My curling root grasps the woody starch of yours:
I can hear you, and the echoes of the animals and stars
Roosting and high in your broad-leafed canopy.
Our invisible links, a hand in hand network, echo
To the furthest reaches of our wet and fertile home.
And because we stand together, each of us …
Can hear the distant murmur of a rainforest’s heart.
We stand together: they cannot destroy us.

I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t create, it’s as natural to me as breathing, especially now that we have the means to achieve great art with digital photography. It’s so exciting and I feel that my creativity has finally come to fruition with these fantastic digital tools.

  • Hi Anna! I am passionate about our old growth forests – rhere are very few old growth trees left in our forests, so we should honour them I think. Thank you my dear generous friend :) x
