The Affair (2)

Our illicit tangle
of precious seconds.
A writhing crucifix of limbs
On the course carpet
Until our jangling nerves
collapse into coughing breaths.

Once I could have taken you
soaring to crest upon crest
of animal excitements
but lately we only lose
all contacts for a fraction.

Then we dress together
to walk dark streets;
and hide in doorways
for glimpses of ecstasy.
We cross talk conversations
in our secret code
and smile at our duplicity.

Those bright afternoons
when you would come
so that we might lay for hours
in a luxury of sheets.
As light as summer
to play like children
in the enveloping fabric.
Almost Innocent
Almost unashamed

    “and hide in doorways
for glimpses of ecstasy.” :) I love all that this imagery holds (in its many meanings to me). Hope you’ve been well, Chris. Many hugs, Jenifer xx
