Vivid manes by Jose Marti (1895)

Like the cup in which it boils
Of transparent wine
In sea breams bubbles
the generous spirit;

As anxious young sea
Which fills a new channel
Overflows, and by beaches
It moves and it dies calm;

As a happy herd
of beautiful colts
That in a clear morning
Show their rejoicing,
Or in crazy races,
Or sonorous neighs,
Or shaking to the air of their superb manes; -

Like that my thoughts
Overflow throughout my life,
And on curled gold foam
They kiss your submissive feet,
Or in shining plumes
Of several rich dyes, they are rocked and they incline
When you walk by -son!
