Shanghai, China
I took a few pics of this shy boy when in ‘the Old City’ of Shanghai. The people here stay in very modest housing and make a living selling anything from fruit and veg to sticky tape and coat hangers. I came home and printed off a few images and took them back to his family the next day. They were so overjoyed that it made this photography experience one of my favourites.

Beautiful shot – shy, sad look – made sadder, of course, by the bars. Lovely thing you did. :-)
Thanks so much Catherine (for the favourite too!) :)))

Thank you so much! :)

super work, how sad he looks or maybe bewildered
Yeah, he does look a bit sad… I think it was also a wary curiosity of the strange blond foreigner with a camera! ;D Such a cute little boy. Thanks for your comment.

Congratulations, Chloe, on being featured in Photographers of RedBubble!

This child is captivating – almost captive, too, behind bars, and locked into a meager existence. It was wonderful of you to give the parents a copy of their precious son’s photograph!!
Thank you SO much for the feature and lovely comment. This photo has been a very rewarding experience all round! :D

It was so nice and thoughtful of you to give his parents a couple of the shots you took. Makes this oicture even more special! :-))
Thank you so much Marie, I was touched by their excitement – running up and down the street showing their friends. I would like to invest in a polaroid instant camera so I can do that more often – think it was even more fun for me! Caught a glimpse of your work and going back to check it out right now – looks AMAZING!!!!!
