Gotta love a Beatles reference!

Took this as part of The Rutland Photographer of the Year 2010 competition. I didn’t win overall.. but four of my images, including this one, will be published in a book due for release spring 2011!

Driving on a cloudy, dark October evening – approaching the competition deadline, I saw this road heading to the village Glaston, UK, and set about using long exposure times to eventually shoot this picture. Set in amongst the rolling hills out the countryside, it depicts well the winding country roads we have in Rutland and the light trails from the car headed into the village add a nice focus point to the image.

Taken on a Nikon D5000

Awesome colors in this…cool headlight streak too.

  • thank you!
I have never liked this image much. I always thought it was a bit ISO’y and the crop never worked for me. The original was at a slight angle and, from a personal standpoint, I could never get it ‘right’.
Even so this image is set to be published in a book and is one of the highest viewed and favourited in my RB portfolio and just got its first comment thanks to you! Its funny isn’t it, you never know what will work for other people.

Thanks again Michael! Your comment really made my day!

Sometimes we look at our own work too critically while other see it for it’s beauty and simplicity.

  • precisely.
