Thanks, Mark. Lisa, thanks for your comment. It’s actually a paddy melon. They grow wild in the desert areas around Mildura, in the north of Victoria, Australia. They are used to make jam or as cricket or bowling balls by the local people. And they are only about a quarter of the sized of a water melon.
Great textures and colour chinchin – a very striking image – would look superb as a massive pic on a stairway, so it smacked you in the face as you turned a corner.
Truly amazing to those of us who have never seen red sand or such a melon that actually grows there. The world is full of wonders! I love the patterns the wind has made blowing the sand around the melon.
