A meeting place … Our Rotunda … a landmark in Adelaide’s Elder Park on the bank of the River Torrens.

… The Elder Park Rotunda , a magnificent example of Victorian architecture, was gifted to the City of Adelaide by philanthropist Thomas Elder in 1882…. constructed of cast iron and zinc, it was fabricated by MacFarlane’s Saracen Foundry in Glasgow, Scotland … it has concrete walls eight feet thick and twelve feet high as its foundation … other capital cities and provincial centres have similarly-designed rotundas, which are actually copies produced by local manufacturers …

Very lovely shot Jude. I love the roof on this and the intricate designs – looks almost oriental.
Sharona … it does … and I think that is why I love it so much. And against that gloomy sky it did, in reality, look beautiful and somewhat oriental.
