I believe that paying attention to the beauty of the world and the people around me is essential to happiness. It is this belief that underpins my love of painting, photography, music and literature.
I’m strictly amateur on the photographic side, and have been doing this for less than a year. My taste runs to portraits that give you a glimpse into the subject’s life and personality, and to simple striking images with strong colour, sharp focus, and high contrast.
Professionally I am a research psychologist and human rights activist, with a special interest in war and torture rehabilitation. My work takes me to interesting places and I meet many inspiring people. I tend not to take my camera along on these trips, largely because I’m not that interested in photographing suffering. It’s not that I don’t think it’s important, I’d just rather leave it to the photojournalists.
