My Thoughts
I wrote this in a moment of clarity during a confusing and difficult time. I ultimately made the right decision. Because I actually took my own advice and was there for myself. I’m much happier now.
My Thoughts belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, PhilosophicalLove is based on fact and not fiction. Love will never survive when it is surrounded by false ideals and unrealistic expectations. Another person can never and will never completely meet the expectations that you’ve set out for love. This is because these expectations are based on past experiences and past expectations that have failed and in turn caused you pain. If you build love based on what is not instead of what is, you will never truly know it. Love is created and given in the present, in the now, and cannot survive if it is based on what is not now.
True acceptance of others comes when you take hold of the truth within you and not allow yourself to seek your truth from others. Only once you can truly accept others can you truly accept yourself. This does not mean that you base your self-acceptance on others. This means that you base your self-acceptance on accepting others. If you do not accept yourself or others, how can you ever expect others to accept you.
A broken heart cannot be healed by seeking an apology from those who hurt you. A broken heart is healed by forgiving yourself for allowing another to hurt you. If you give others the power to hurt you, they will. If you do not give your power away, it cannot be used against you. This does not mean that you don’t allow people to get close to you. This means that you do not allow them to you use you as their dumping ground. From the minute we enter this earth, we experience some form of suffering. Whether it be physical, emotional, mental or otherwise. Every human being on this planet knows what it means to suffer and to hurt, in one form or another, to varying degrees. These experiences shape who you are and are unavoidable. But you do have a choice, you can choose to learn from them and allow them to shape you into a great person, or you can allow them to enter your soul and slowly poison you. The one thing that every human being possesses is the ability to choose. You get to choose how your life goes. Does this mean that you won’t encounter heartbreak and suffering? Of course not. But you get to choose how you handle it. That is your power. That is your only power. That is the only thing that you truly have control over in life. You cannot control other people’s reactions. You cannot control how they treat you. It is the choice that they get to make. You can only control your reaction. Does this mean that you allow people to hurt you over and over and over, and allow others to take advantage of you? No! This means that you get to say I choose not to let you hurt me. I choose not to become a different person, a guarded person, because you choose to hurt me. I choose to be free from your pain and hurt and suffering. And I can choose to love you despite the fact that you’ve hurt me. Afterall, there is no such thing as bad people, only those who have not discovered that their pain is also their power. Forgive them for hurting you, as they are hurting too. Instead of getting mad, or writing them off, and instead of always wondering why they hurt you and why they aren’t there for you, think about how you can be there for them. And MOST importantly, be there for yourself.

My interpretion is that that is how love is always,
Forgive them and countinue that process to heal them and
they will heal you. Its about the modern context and realiasation of life…

This writing is quite a journey…. Thank you for sharing… I like how it summaries the do’s and don’ts of loving…. so true in so many aspects…. It is great to be reminded about the trail towards happiness / contentment in this world… helps to ease the suffering of the ‘daily existence’.... 8))))

Much truth and wisdom in your words. When someone hurts us our first instinct is to protect ourselves, be it expressed as anger , withdrawal, or both. Although not easy, we should remember that if someone deliberately hurts us, what they are actually doing is expressing their own pain, and that we can choose to not let them hurt us anymore while still continuing to love them. Just as you say, that is our power and strength.

thats exactally how i feel to about life, love and situtions… its like you can have some one or something to be your strenth can also be your weakness depends how you use it!!! you cant change others but you can use their bad to you for gd! Thanks for this writting.
