Meet Billy

This is Billy. I visited our local SPCA, or our closest one (45 minutes from me). I like going there and seeing all the animals there but I am also sad about it. It is a very small facility, it is a dreary place too. The cat room is extremely small and dark. Too dark to really get any shots. The people that run it were kind of weirded out about me being there. The assistant told me she had never had anyone just “WANT” to take pictures. She said everyone has a reason. I told her the reason I had was to hopefully help them find homes and than I would assure they get the images I take. She was very cold to me about it so I didn’t really get a good chance to take shots. But the ones I did, saddened me. I was there about an hour and wanted to take them all, but had my eyes on probably 5 I would seriously love to take. And there was only 10-11 dogs there in all. There were probably 10 cages for the cats. 4 of them had mommies with babies in them…OHHHH how I wanted to take photos of them so much. They were so cute. There was one cat there, full grown, that wanted to come home with me as much as I could have taken him in a heart beat. He was so loving. I bent over to pet some kittens and I was next to his cage. Twice he let me know he wanted my attention by patting me on the head with is paw. LOL

Anyhoo, this is Billy, billy is in need of a home so bad. He is such a loving animal. I liked this image because it really makes him look sad, even the goober in his eye looks like a tear. :) I received quit a few kisses and even a large hug from Billy. He was just coming in from being walked so I was able to get a better photo than this of him but I loved this one.

I’m admitting my age here, but he reminds me of Pete in Little Rascals. Such a cute face. I hope he finds a home soon. (and the others also!)

  • Cheri Perry replied

You’re not saying much to me cause I agree with you. He does doesn’t he? I never thought of it but you are so right…lol
I too say my prayers for these guys. Thanks for looking

He’s beautiful. Are you taking him. Maybe as a foster until he gets a home. People tend to put the Pit Bulls down first. So sad.

  • Cheri Perry replied

I would love to be a Pit foster parent. But with my two LITTLE dogs, I don’t dare take the chance. I am bugging my husband to make up some cages outside so I can be a foster. It’s a lot of money and work so I’m not sure when it will get done, but maybe someday. I wish I could. I love pits….all terriers really…oh heck…all dogs and cats. LOL
    Thanks for stopping in.

    What a beautiful dog.

  • Cheri Perry replied

Yes he is a beautiful one. At least I know here they don’t put animals down unless there is something wrong with them. I know there are a couple there that have been there for months and months and they said they will keep them until someone either fosters or takes them.

I’m sure with shots like this adorable photograph Billy will find a home. I too visit a local dog shelter and take out blankets that I make from wool as their kennels often look cold. If I could I would bring them all home but alas….. Cheri you are doing a wonderful job here.

  • Cheri Perry replied

thanks so much. I am not doing anything though because they don’t want copies. They don’t keep up a web page or anything so they have no need for it…or so they say. I was really upset about the whole place.

That is one great capture Cheri, I so love this and it is perfect for a b&w Image.
Very well done and the images says so much.

  • Cheri Perry replied

Thanks so much Susanne. Coming from you that means a lot to me. You are the master at SPCA photos so…I am very appreciative of your very kind words. I just wish they would use these for something to find them homes. But they don’t even want prints of what I took. They don’t have a web site they keep up

Great photo! And a great story behind it! I´m sure this shot will help Billy to find a loving home! Maybe you can print this picture on simple paper with the information about Billy and post it around you city.. It might help. The picture is very expressive, heartbreaking shot!

  • Cheri Perry replied

THank you so much for stopping in. As a matter of fact, I was just working at the local HIgh School here the other day and someone happened to tell me that he was adopted by one of the H.S. Teachers and has a wonderful spoiling home now. :) I was so happy to hear that.
