This work just seems to have the right elements of black red and white that almost everyone that sees it just loves it.
It wasn’t that important a painting to me (although i liked it and was happy with it) but once EVERYONE wanted one it kind of became my signature piece!
I liked that the magpies even though they are almost 2D in shape still held you captivated with their real looking eyes, the red background is brilliant and bright and the whole combination works a treat.
Magpies are cheeky creatures and such an everyday Australian sight that i think that has an appeal as well.
I think I’ve done ..god about 12 different magpies now and i’m totally over them and i dont care how popular they are NO MORE… so enjoy these…. they are the original and best!
