I had been trying to get a good shot of Currahee from the highway, but either I was so close to it that it couldn’t be seen, or far enough away that the power lines detracted way too much. I had to be on a back road that I was not familiar with (quite by accident) in order to find the perspective that I liked. It is the most southernmost mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountain range.
I used my Canon Rebel XTi, shot 3 images with -1, 0, +1 exposures – combined in Photomatix Pro 4.0 using the Grunge settings, Maximum smoothing, then took it to Picnik where I smoothed some more of the sky, then used some vibrance, and the mascara tool to accentuate the towers on the mountain and the fences in the pasture. Finally I ended up in PS4 where I increased the pixel size.
